Oral Care Course Introduction
Welcome to your Oral Care training course. We begin with a short introduction to the course itself and your trainer Samantha Glover before we look at the role dental professionals play. You will learn the anatomy of the tooth and the correct dental terminology, as well as dental consent.
Oral Health
In this section, you will learn about oral health. We look at the conditions that can affect the oral cavity and how diet plays a part in oral health, as well as the importance of good oral hygiene, including brushing and problems that can occur such as cancer and gum disease.
Dementia and older People Oral Care
In this section, you will learn how to assist a person with Dementia with their oral care, including visiting the dentist, caring for dentures, diet, and diabetes.
Learning Difficulties Oral Care
People with learning disabilities, or physical and learning disabilities often need assistance with their oral care. In this section, you will learn about the conditions of the oral cavity you may encounter, including epilepsy and its effects.
Trauma and Dental First Aid
Finally, we look at dental trauma, and how to provide first aid following a dental injury.
